From our Servant Resources Committee
The LWML Prayer Service authored by Reverend Philip Esala is ready for your use in your congregation. “Beautiful Feet” is the theme of the 2010 Prayer Service. Based on one of the 2009 Portland LWML Convention theme verses (Isaiah 52:7), this service will bring LWML members and friends together in prayer and praise.
Participants are encouraged to read through the service for advance preparation, if possible, prior to the day of the prayer service. Instructions are included within the body of the prayer service. An optional offering may be gathered.
The Reverend Philip Esala authored this service to provide our readership the encouragement to spend time in prayer, to look for opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with people in our communities in everyday situations, proclaiming the peace only He provides as He brings us salvation.
You will find the Prayer Service on the Bibles Studies page in the Resource section of the LWML website. You can download the color or black/white version. This service was featured on the back page of the winter 2009 Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly too.
- Anytime would be a great time to give your society the gift of new LWML materials. I recommend giving leadership and mentoring tools. Our societies should always be looking for ways to improve themselves for the Lord. As we grow in the Word we will be better equipped to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.

Servant Check Up
We all have had check-ups of some sort. We go to the doctor's office for a check-up on our bodies. We take our vehicles in for tune-ups and we visit with our financial advisors for a check on our finances.
When was the last time your society had a self check up? Are you following our LWML Mission Statement? On a scale of 1 to 10, how would your society rate itself in working towards the mission? Take time at your next society gathering and read the Mission Statement and League Pledge. Ask your ladies to talk about how they think the group is doing towards following the mission. Come up with ideas to strengthen weak areas and praise the group for areas that they are doing well.
LWML item #5201 “A Responsive Reading on the LWML Mission Statement” is a great resource for looking at the mission statement and understanding how we Women in Mission are to serve and who we are to serve. We have three key action words to focus on: assist, affirm and enable. This item is free and can be found on the LWML website. Click on Resources, next click on Program Helps and scroll down to Printable Program Helps.
Opportunities for service are all around us. Gladly serve Him where and when He sends you.
