“Grace Above All” is the theme of the 27th Biennial MN South District Convention –June 29-30, 2018 at the Verizon Center, Mankato, MN.

The theme is based on theBible verse “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me wasnot in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:10a).

After requests for a shorter convention, it will be shortened to Friday through Saturday. The business and decisions of the LWML Minnesota South District must be conductedat the convention. This includes setting the 2018 – 2020 Mission Goal, choosing the Mission Grants that we will fund, updating Bylaws, and electing the officersthat will serve from 2018 – 2022.

Christian Life Bible studies will be at 7:15am on Friday and Saturday, with the third Bible study Saturday afternoon as part of the convention program. The Communion Service will be Friday evening. Rev. Robert Mundahl, LWML National Senior Counselor, will be Proclaimer. Bible study leader will be Rev. Dr. Gary Zieroth, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions, Fort Wayne Seminary. Mission Speakers are Rev. Ben Griffin, Executive Director of LINC Twin Cities, and Rev. Ryan McDermott, Area Facilitator for Deaf Ministry - West and Central Africa.

Pre-Convention Events: The Mite Mission Walk, a Servant Event, and a First-Timers Event will be held on Thursday evening. During the convention, a silent auction of Gift Baskets will be held, and proceeds will be given to mites. Capping off the convention will be dedication of the “Gifts from the Heart” and installation of officers on Saturday afternoon.

Changing the convention is challenging. Some things had to be eliminated. Our hope is that this convention honors God, and inspires all who attend to: “Serve the Lord with Gladness” (Psalm 100:2).
Margaret Hesemann, LWML District President 2014 - 2018
