President's Message

Letter from the LWML District President, Lisa Kamrath
February 2026

LWML Vision Statement: The LWML is the leading group for the LCMS women where each woman is welcomed and encouraged to use her unique God-given gifts as she supports global missions and serves the Lord with gladness.

What does it mean to be part of Lutheran Women in Mission? It means being part of an official auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. It is a membership of all the women in our church body. They are young adults, middle-aged, experienced, and mature women who collect money in mite boxes to help support mission projects locally, nationally, and internationally. The mission projects joyfully proclaim Christ as part of their ministry. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15).

LWML women are not just about having meetings. They are interested in Bible studies, serving at their churches, providing for others with Gifts from the Heart, hearing from and supporting missionaries around the world, and studying God’s word. Sometimes they wear purple clothes and dye their hair purple.

Lutheran Women in Mission are not just about working in their church kitchens and cutting pickles. They make quilts for other ministries to distribute near and far. They collect food for the local food shelves. They sew pillowcases dresses for children in faraway countries. They put together school kits, newborn baby kits, midwife kits, and hospice kits for the Orphan Grain Train to deliver where needed. They offer fellowship opportunities through zone and district events, retreats, prayer services, and conventions. Through all of these opportunities they joyfully proclaim Christ and serve the Lord with gladness. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all peoples! (Psalm 96:3).

How did you become involved in LWML? Most of us began because we were invited by someone who was already serving the Lord with gladness. Are there women in your congregation you could invite to a Bible study, servant event, give a mite box with the mission grant bookmark to, or plant the seed to join you at “The  Peace of Christ” LWML MN South District Convention this summer? 2026 Convention Information

What gift has God given you to serve the women in your groups, zones, or on the district level? God has given all of us talents and abilities to serve Him. Learn what your talents are and look for ways to share them with your LWML sisters. Now may the God of peace … equip you with everything good that you may do his will (Hebrews 13:20–21a).

The Lutheran Women in Mission of the Minnesota South District are a blessing to many church ministries, congregations, pastors, and communities. Those women are also a blessing to me as I attend meetings, rallies, retreats, and conventions in Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Omaha. I love having time to talk with my LWML sisters to hear how they are serving the Lord in their churches. The days and weeks have flown by since June 18, 2022. I have been blessed by God to meet many new friends, coworkers in the LWML, and women using their unique God-given gifts to serve the Lord with gladness. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another (1 Peter 4:10a).

Thank you for your faithfulness in proclaiming Christ, supporting missions, and equipping women to honor God by serving others. To God be the glory!

Joyfully serving Christ with you,

Lisa Kamrath, LWML MN South District President, 2022-2026
